St. Francis School offers developmental programs for 3 and 4 year olds. The preschoolers (3 year olds) attend on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8:00-11:30. The pre-k students (4 year olds) attend 5 days from 8:00AM-2:10PM. In addition to the curriculum, students participate in Mass, Art, Gym, Music and Library classes each week. We have a morning snack time, recess and lunch. Students in the pre-k class can bring a lunch from home or purchase a school hot lunch.
The curriculum is a mix of academic, social, emotional, gross motor and fine motor development. Students participate in pre-reading, math, science, social studies and religion and center activities. Students are exposed to a wide variety of literature. Fine motor skills (coloring, cutting, tracing, painting, Legos, peg boards etc.) are integrated in all areas of the curriculum to help students develop strong finger muscles and motor planning skills which are needed for writing. Computers are used to enhance curriculum goals and provide extra practice in letter recognition and phonics.
